West Rutland girls begin hunt for state title trifecta

By RUSSELL JONES

Westside got the first win of the season with a 1-0 win over Arlington on Friday.

It was a physical, defensive matchup that led to a scoreless tie that was broken by a direct kick 40 yards from the goal by Jeneé McGee in the second half.

Arlington is the defending state champs and one of the toughest matchups West Rutland should expect this year.

The team’s next game will be against Sharon followed by a game against Black River next Tuesday. Homecoming will be on Sept. 14, against Proctor and should also present a tough challenge for the Horde.
