Norman Kenneth McIlveen, age 52, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, at his home in Torrington, Conn.
McIlveen was born in Mt. Kisco, N.Y. on Jan. 6, 1967. He was the son of Kenneth and Joan (Bennett) McIlveen. He grew up in New Fairfield, Conn. where he received his early education and graduated from Henry Abbott Technical Center, class of 1985.
He was a hands-on mechanic who loved motorcycles and any kind of machine. He drove truck for Rock-On-Trucking for many years until being forced to retire in 2015, due to illness.
He enjoyed building models, remote controlled airplanes and other motorized model vehicles. He loved animals, especially his dog DJ. He also had been an avid hunter and target shooter. He had a great sense of humor, was quite the prankster and enjoyed being in the kitchen cooking and drinking coffee.
Surviving is his son Dylan McIlveen of Torrington, Conn. and his daughter Brandi McIlveen of Danbury, Conn.; his brother Drew McIlveen of Jupiter, Fla.; his sister; Karen Rhodes of Brandon and the love of his life Laura Mangiafico of Torrington, Conn. Three nephews also survive him.
The graveside committal service and burial will take place at a later date, in Riverside Cemetery in Killington.
Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made to a humane society of one’s choice.
