Brandon SB approves revised budget; public vote on April 30th
The Brandon Selectboard convened for its regular meeting on Monday evening. Despite concerns that eclipse-related traffic might make a live meeting difficult for some, all five Selectboard members and the full town management team were present, along with a score of attendees.
OVUU Board to offer 1% cut on proposed budget
At its meeting on Tuesday, April 2, the Otter Valley Unified Union School Board voted 5 to 2 to cut $268,751.13 from the proposed $27,247,823 FY2025 budget that was defeated on March 5. The new proposed budget of $26,979,072 will be put before district voters on Tuesday, April 30.
Shannon Bryant, first woman on Sudbury Selectboard, looks to strengthen her community
Shannon Bryant wasn’t aware that Sudbury had never had a woman on its Selectboard when she won a seat at this year’s Town Meeting. A 1990 Otter Valley grad, she’d moved back to Sudbury with her wife, architect Shelly Pottorf, after several decades living and working around the country.

‘Trash-talk’ allegedly used racial slur at OV/MR game
RNESU Superintendent Jeanné Collins released a statement on Monday, Nov. 1 referring to an alleged incident at the OVUHS-Mill River High School football game in which players may have used racial slurs in an escalated instance of trash-talking among the players, Collins said.
OV field hockey beats Fair Haven, 7-0, to earn No. 4 seed in Division II playoffs
The Otter Valley field hockey team earned the No. 4 seed in Division II after a successful regular season that concluded late last week. The Otters will open their title quest on Friday.

A couple of weeks ago, an out-of-town sports team came to Brandon to donate a day of free labor. Brandon’s economic development and recreation director Bill Moore welcomed the help and put the Castleton University field hockey team to work moving a big pile of woodchips at the Seminary Hill Park playground and painting picnic tables at Estabrook Park.
Cosmos, Otters embody sportsmanship
This past Saturday, the Otter Valley field hockey team met visiting Springfield in which both teams came out as winners by seeing close-up what good sportsmanship means.
OV wins State Championship!
The Otter Valley boys’ golf team dominated the field at the Manchester Country Club on Thursday, Oct. 10 to win the Division II championship by a 22-stroke margin.
