A SLIGHT RAIN curtailed Brandon’s Tree Lighting ceremony, but a few dozen folks showed up to sing songs and kick off the holiday season in festive style at Brandon’s Town Hall. Two trees were lit following the ceremony.

BRANDON — Despite the rain, a number of Brandon townspeople turned out to welcome in the holiday season at the Brandon Town Hall on Sunday, Nov. 27 for a joyful hour of caroling (inside) and tree lighting (outside).

Choral director Gene Childers led the singers, mostly from the Brandon Congregational Church, in a traditional holiday sing-a-long, which included “Silent Night,”,“Good King Wenceslas,” and several others. The audience joined in the songs of which many are known by heart.

LEADING THE CAROLERS was Director Gene Childers with his wife, Jean, on piano. Carolers were: Bernie Carr, Bill Moore, Wyatt Waterman, Ellen Knapp, Sue Wetmore, Terry Zimmer, Hilary Knapp, Pastor Sara Rossigg, Kristen Varian, Barbara White, Lyn Desmanais. Reporter photo/Carolyn Van Vleck

Bernie Carr, Brandon Area Chamber of Commerce president, made a few announcements of other Brandon Christmas events that are coming up in the next few weeks, and Pastor Sara Rossigg led the group in prayer.

Carr encouraged everyone to check out the Brandon Chamber of Commerce’s website to find out more about upcoming holiday events in the area, noting that it has been “two years since we’ve been able to join together to celebrate, so let’s live it to the fullest.” Brandon events are also listed in this week’s issue of The Reporter in the Community Calendar.
