Nearly 300 people came together on a balmy Sunday afternoon at the Neshobe School to take part in a new merger between Neshobe PTO’s Kindness Day and Brandon Recreation’s traditional safety day. The former stand-alone events, meant to encourage the practice of happiness and raise awareness for Brandon’s emergency services, gave away over 200 free hotdogs and 150 bicycle helmets courtesy of OMYA. The event included a kindness bingo where kids performed tasks to help other people and the crowd was further entertained by Beyond the Barn Farm’s petting zoo, Boyce’s Bicycle Rodeo, and an appearance from Smokey the Bear. The safety awareness was taken to new levels as the crowd witnessed LifeNet’s helicopter spring into action as they were called away for a legitimate emergency during the event.
