Rec Dept. gets $10K grant

By RUSSELL JONES

The Brandon Recreational department has received a recreational facility grant of $10,000 for the park on Seminary Hill. The grant will help fund construction that will provide ADA access to the park and will help with other improvements.

“We want to make a safe walk-able park, which will house a donated McDonald’s play structure,” said Rec. director Bill Moore at the Brandon Selectboard meeting on Monday, Sept. 23. “We are looking at a construction date of early summer of next year.”

Town Manager Dave Atherton updated the board on the Segment 6 construction in the town as well.

“They have been putting down a lot of pavement recently,” Atherton said. “Sidewalks are being poured and they are starting to demobilize some equipment.”

Atherton also said that crews would be starting to set curbs again soon.
