Brandon Chief of Police David Kachajian remains committed to his post and intends to equip himself and the town with a few new systems that might help raise awareness and increase safety overall.

Imagine buying a business and, only ten months later, standing in a hurricane while it floats down the street. Sheila Gearwar, the owner of Brandon House of Pizza (BHOP), had to do just that in August of 2011.  

Compounding the district’s ongoing staffing and work-related woes, in which para-educators and bus drivers are still at impasse over contract negotiations, there have been nagging questions about facility and program upgrades and budget appropriations.

On July 9th, the town of Brandon will be hosting the first Davenport Electric Fest to celebrate the 220th anniversary of the birth of Thomas Davenport, the Forest Dale inventor who patented the world’s first battery-powered electric motor.

The library is now tabled to be moved to its temporary location at the town hall next April, with asbestos removal and construction beginning in earnest in June 2023.
