In our beekeeping business, we try to follow the most recent science and the latest best practices to maintain the health of our honeybee colonies and other pollinators. “No Mow May” is a concept that encourages homeowners to avoid mowing plants that provide nectar and pollen for many pollinators during the month of May when spring flowers are blooming on lawns.

The story of Brandon’s St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church (now St. Thomas & Grace) begins with the mid-1830s formation of an Episcopal worship group at the Forest Dale home of Royal Blake.

The tables out front are laden with flowers, a dazzling array of colors in the bright spring sun.  There are baby vegetables in tiny pots just waiting to go home with their adoptive parents, who will nurture them to maturity and then enjoy one of the delights of summer: fresh veggies straight from the backyard garden.

The Downtown Brandon Alliance, whose mission is to keep Brandon’s downtown business district vital and attractive, has been awarded a $29,100 Better Places grant from the Vermont Department of Housing and Community Development.
