Rene Sanchez takes the helm as RNESU Superintendent
It’s been a busy week for Rene Sanchez. On July 1, he took over as the new interim Superintendent at Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union, the district that includes Otter Valley Middle and High Schools, Lothrop Elementary in Pittsford, Neshobe Elementary in Brandon, Otter Creek Academy in Leicester, and the Barstow School in the town of Chittenden.

Lost Names, Part 27: Gilbar, Gilbert, Bushee, and Cornstock
Several years ago, Roberta (Wright) Mills of Florence asked me to explore the genealogy of her great-great-grandfather Eli Gilbar to see if we could find any evidence of Native American ancestry. While no traces of Native American forebears have yet surfaced in this family, Eli nonetheless emerged as opportunity to investigate another lost French-Canadian surname.

OV field hockey rolls over Fair Haven
The Otters continued their winning ways as they beat Fair Haven 15-0 on Tuesday. Alia Edmunds had four goals and four assists. Morgan LaPorte also had four goals in the win and Riley Keith added two. OV Hall of Fame adds 12 new members
During halftime of Saturday’s Otter Valley Union High School football game, 12 new members of the Otter Valley Hall of Fame were introduced, including eight athletes, a coach, two teachers and an administrator.
Proctor outlasts OV in boys soccer
A last-second buzzer-beating win is usually something one thinks of in a basketball game. But a matchup of two young teams on Friday resulted in one of those last second victories for Proctor boys soccer as they defeated Otter Valley Union High School, 1-0, with only seven seconds left in double overtime.
