Names lost in Vermont, Part 1: Edward Bird
Edward Bird and his wife Mary are buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Brandon. As immigrants from French-speaking Canada in the 1840s, they were both hard to trace because they lost their original names and, as their story will reveal, they remained outside the Catholic Church for most of their lives.

Proctor boys defeat Twinfield in playdown opener, lose to Rivendell
The Proctor boys opened their playoff schedule on Wednesday, March 2, against the Twinfield Trojans and put on one of their performances of the season, rolling to a 57-36 win.

The West Rutland Golden Horde girl’s basketball team won the school’s second state championship in Division IV girls basketball in the past four years by defeating rival Proctor, 57-56, at the Barre Auditorium this past Saturday.

The Mount Abraham boys basketball team took a trip down Route 7 for a clash with Otter Valley in a Saturday afternoon matinee at the “House of Noise” and used their size and speed to claim the win, 57-42.
