Proctor started its baseball season with their shortstop and pitcher, Joe Valerio, on the bench after knee surgery following a basketball injury. The season got off to a rough start as the Phantoms lost their first three games.
Since then, the team pulled together and won five out of six games to come into a game with MSJ on Friday, May 17, with a 5-4 record.
Valerio was back at shortstop and Proctor looks to be heating up at just the right time. Jacob May threw four innings of no-hit ball as the Phantoms beat the Mounties 13-3 and Valerio made his presence known with two fantastic plays to save hits.
Jacob Perkins and Kyle Laughlin both hit doubles and Liam Beaulieu had two hits and three RBIs to lead the team.
A second game with MSJ was scheduled on Monday, but postponed due to rain. The Phantoms have their two final scheduled games on Wednesday, May 22, at 2 p.m. with Green Mountain, and Saturday, May 25, at 11 a.m. against Black River. Both games are on the road.
