The pairing for the girls basketball playoffs were announced on Monday. 2-seed Proctor will face 9-win Arlington Memorial High School on Saturday in Proctor. West Rutland, a 3-seed, will host 12-7 Danville at 2 p.m. on Saturday.Otter Valley traveled to Lake Regions Union High in the first round as a 13-seed. Lake Region came into the game with a 16-4 record against Otter Valley’s 6-14.
The Otters fought hard in the game but fell short with a final score of 54-44. Livia Bernhardt scored 20 points for the Otters, whose season ends with a 6-15 record.
The good news for the Otters is that their starting lineup will all return next season. Although all the Otters starters had games where they performed well, both Bernhardt and Leah Pinkowski were excellent scorers most of the season and freshman Alice Keith was a standout at point guard.
Both the Proctor girls and the West Rutland girls earned a first-round bye. The tip-off time for the Phantoms, who come in to the game with a record of 16-4, is still to be announced.
If both the Phantoms and Westside win, they will face off against each other on Wednesday, March 6, at 6:30 in Barre Auditorium for the semifinal game.
