ORWELL — Kenny Tremont Jr. took another victory lap at Devil’s Bowl on Sunday, July 27, as he pushed his number 115-car across the finish line in first place in the Sportsman Modified “C.J. Richards Memorial 100.”

Five other drivers also visited the winner’s circle during the event, with Anthony Warren, Mark Norris, Jake Barrows and Evan Roberts winning their feature races.

It took Tremont 56 laps to make his way from 17th position to first, but once he got there he pulled away from the field in the 100-lap Sportsman Modified race at Devil’s Bowl Speedway this weekend. Tremont, from West Sand Lake, N.Y., saw his big lead vanish in a lap-99 restart, but held off the competition in the green-white-checker finish to win his fifth race of the season.

Brandon drivers, Joey Scarborough, finished in fifth place and Vince Quenneville crossed the line in seventh position. Salisbury drivers Brent Warren ended in 12th place and Mike Palmer was 23rd. Middlebury’s Justin Comes finished 24th and Pittsford’s Brian Whittemore came in 30th.

In Limited Sportsman action, Shoreham’s Anthony Warren picked up another win and Brandon’s Dave Snow finished fifth. Austin Comes, Middlebury, placed in eighth position, Adam Piper, of Leicester, finished 10th, and Brandon’s Matt Bilodeau came in 11th.

The racing FitzGerald’s of West Rutland came home with fourth and seventh place finishes as father Scott beat out son Andrew in the Super Stock feature. Rookie Roo Forrest, also of West Rutland, finished 12th. Mark Norris, Benson, was the winner of the feature.

Middlebury’s Jake Barrows went to victory circle in mini-stock feature racing. Joe Malzac of Salisbury and rookie Scott Cowdrey of Leicester finished eighth and ninth.

The always-entertaining youngsters of the 500cc Mini Sprint feature thrilled fans yet again and Brandon racers Kevin Smith and Alyza McKeighan finished ninth and 10th, respectively. Evan Roberts, 13-year-old rookie from Fletcher, picked up his fifth win of the year in the division.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway is back in action on Sunday, August 4 at 7:00 p.m., as Friend Construction presents a special event for the Limited Sportsman division and the annual Kids Racecar Rides at intermission.  General admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and free for kids 12 and under.
