Brandon Police apprehend man on escape charges

On July 10, members of the Brandon Police Department, assisted by the Vermont State Police responded to Conway Terrace in Brandon in an attempt to locate and arrest Adam R. Hornbeck, 28, on escape charges.

Hornbeck had been on furlough from the Vermont Department of Corrections, supervised through the Rutland office. Hornbeck had not been compliant with furlough and evaded corrections officers who went to his residence to return him to the correctional facility on June 7, by fleeing on foot.

On June 9, Brandon Police arrived at 43 Conway Terrace in an attempt to locate Hornbeck. Upon knocking at the door, Hornbeck opened the door briefly and then immediately shut the door. Moments later another individual opened the door claiming he could not get Hornbeck to come to the door or turn himself in. Brandon Police then applied for and were granted a search warrant to enter the residence to search for Hornbeck.

On Wednesday, July 10, at 7:34 p.m., officers executed that search warrant and took Hornbeck into custody on a warrant issued for escape, which had a bail of $20,000. Hornbeck was transported to Marble Valley Correctional Center where he was taken into their custody.
