PITTSFORD — Peter Barrett Lester, age 82, died unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Lester was born in Orwell on Aug. 27, 1936. He was the son of Charles and Lillian (Barber) Lester. He moved with his family to Pittsford at an early age. He grew up in Pittsford where he received his education in local schools. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home. In his early years he had worked in a Hydro Electric Plant in Massachusetts. He had co-owned and operated Lester Brother’s Garage in Forest Dale for many years. He was also a self-employed carpenter.
He enjoyed woodworking and metal work. He could make anything out of nothing. He also enjoyed playing the harmonica.
Surviving is his wife Suzanne (Fallon) Lester of Pittsford whom he married in Brandon on October 2, 1981; his children; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; his sister, Elizabeth Beaumont of the Upper Peninsula, Mich.; two brothers, Fred Lester of Pittsfield and Paul Lester of Leicester. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by a son, Daniel Lester in 1995 and two brothers Jack Lester and Bob Lester.
The memorial service “In Celebration of his Life” will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m., at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Pittsford. The Rev. Maurice Moreau, pastor will officiate. Following the ceremony, the family will receive friends in the church hall, for a time of remembrance.
The graveside committal service and burial; with military honors; will take place at a later date, in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Brandon.
