This episode starts with revisiting two framed portrait-sized photographs donated to the Pittsford Historical Society. The photos came from the home of Myrtle (Rabitoy) Cameron (1917–2009).
Brandon SB revises budget for 3rd vote: spending down 0.5% but tax revenue up 2.5%
In a special meeting on Monday evening, the Brandon Selectboard unanimously approved a revised FY2025 budget that reduces spending overall by 0.5% (less than 1%) while increasing the amount to be raised by taxes by 2.5%, both figures in comparison to the current year’s levels.
Canyon the duckie arrested for assault against July 4th competitor
No one thought it could happen here in Brandon: a crime of such depravity that it defies comprehension. A young, virile specimen of a duckie was viciously attacked in order to eliminate him as competition in the July 4th Duckie Race in Brandon, leaving the once-strapping bird wondering if he’ll ever paddle again.

OV Wrestling has terrific tourney at MUHS
A deep Otter Valley wrestling team walked away from last week’s 50th annual Hubie Wagner Invitational Tournament in Middlebury as the team champions.
‘Scrappy’ Otter girls’ basketball team down but not out
Early on the visiting Otter Valley girls’ basketball team on Friday looked determined to take it to Middlebury, using tough man-to-man defense to force a batch of turnovers and a balanced attack to bolt to a 11-4 lead after one period.
Local athletes named 2022 football all-stars
Several members of the Otter Valley Union High School Division III football team, as well as members of the Division I Middlebury and Division III Mount Abraham-Vergennes football teams, were named all-stars in voting by the leagues’ coaches.

Vermont’s Killington Resort, the largest ski and snowboard resort in Eastern North America hosted the women’s Audi FIS Ski World Cup for the sixth time over Thanksgiving Weekend.
FISU World Conference to address climate change and winter sports
“Winter sporting communities and athletes alike are seeing first-hand the impact of climate change on winter sport,” said Ashley Walden, Adirondack Sports Council executive director and a member of the Lake Placid 2023 FISU World University Games’ Organizing Committee.
