Oliver Carapezza is a first grader at Otter Creek Academy. For this picture we studied birds and used the wax resist technique, first drawing the lines with crayons and then painting the colors with cake tempera paint. Oliver worked diligently on this piece. Oliver discovered the texture that a paper towel creates when you soak up some of the wet paint. Oliver used this technique to give the bird a soft looking face, and it almost looks like the bird is floating on a cloud.
