SPRINGFIELD—Otter Valley wrestling added another notch to its belt this year with its third-place finish in the state dual-meet championship at Springfield High School on Saturday, February 11.
The Otters’ road to third took them through St. Johnsbury (50-30) and then Spaulding (45-24) to clinch third place in the consolation final.
The championship was won by Mount Anthony in a final match against Colchester (56-18). Mount Anthony has won a U.S. record 33 consecutive state titles. 13 of their wrestlers finished the day in Springfield undefeated. With that kind of competition, we should be even prouder of our Otters and their outstanding finish.
Four Otters ended the day undefeated: Caleb Whitney, Isaac Whitney, Lincoln Wilcox, and Keevon Parks.
Eight teams competed in the event: Mt. Anthony, Colchester, OV, Spaulding, St. Johnsbury, Essex, Springfield, and Burr & Barton.
