SUMMARY:Rutland Welcomes the Return of Winterfest
DESCRIPTION:After a two-year hiatus\, Winterfest returns in full February 17-25 with events for all ages and abilities. Winterfest has been a Rutland staple for 20 years\, but what began as a 4-hour event one day in February has blossomed into a 7-day festival during winter break. \n\n\n\nThis year\, Winterfest is bringing back crowd favorites like sledding down Center Street\, Human Foosball\, and the Real Rutland Feud while adding some future favorites to the roster. \n“Winterfest has been a long-standing tradition in Rutland and after a year off\, we are excited to bring it back! Over the years the events have evolved and so many great memories have been created\,” says Winterfest event co-chair April Cioffi. “Spark some joy and come play at Winter Fest!” \nComing together as a community in this challenging time of year is incredibly important for mental and physical health and is the reason for throwing a big winter festival. Most events are free\, and some paid events are open to spectators for free. \n\n\n\n“Hopefully\, people are as excited and engaged as they were in the past\,” says Winterfest event co-chair Russ Marsan. “With new people and new sponsors\, Winterfest is undergoing a renaissance of sorts. There’s something for everyone to do: stuff for kids\, adults and families. This year\, there are 24 different groups including businesses\, nonprofits\, Rutland City\, and the Town of Brandon: a good group of people.” \n\n\n\nThings kick off Friday\, February 17th with a snowy story walk at Pine Hill Park. On Saturday\, Giorgetti Arena opens its doors for free ice skating from 5-7pm. On Tuesday\, Feb. 21st\, folks can sled down Center Street and play or participate in a game of Human Foosball. Teams of 6 compete for the glory. Registration is $50 per team and funds go to support Come Alive Outside. Spectators are welcome to watch the action for free. \nWednesday morning at 10am\, kids and adults can wear their P.J.s at the Paramount to watch a flick\, then join in the Great Bigfoot Chase at the Rutland Free Library at 1pm. Thursday evening at 6\, cornholers of all abilities will compete in a mini tournament at the Rutland Recreation Center. Friday night at 6:30\, bring the kids or a date to Skate with Bigfoot. The Loved Ones and Little Ones Dance wraps up Winterfest on Saturday\, February 25 along with the ever- popular Real Rutland Feud at 7pm at The Paramount Theatre. Tickets to the Loved Ones and Little Ones Dance are $15 per couple while tickets to the Real Rutland Feud are $30 per person. \nFor more information\, visit https://www.rutlandrec. com/winterfestevents\, call 802-773-1853 or email aprilc@rutlandrec.com.

SUMMARY:"No Is Not A Four-Letter Word" With Lisa Danforth
DESCRIPTION:Your busyness could be costing you the future you’re working so hard for.\n\n\nYour busyness could be costing you the future you’re working so hard for. \nIt is possible to have a thriving personal life and a thriving professional life\, simultaneously. Yet\, we need to figure out what we want and how we go about getting it. Not everything matters equally. \nWith each “YES” and “NO\,” you’re ‘setting in’ the invisible line of boundaries that shape your time and financial freedom\, your energy\, and your most important relationships (including yourself). \nTime is a nonrenewable resource\, so when you say “YES” and prioritize one thing\, you’re choosing to deprioritize something else. There’s always a tradeoff. \nIn this interactive talk\, you’ll learn: \n• What boundaries are and what they are not \n• Why we struggle to establish boundaries \n• How boundaries improve relationships \n• Communication tips for how to share your boundaries \n• The power of a pause \n————————————– \nThis event will be held virtually through Zoom. An email containing the link will be sent prior to the event date. If you have any questions or concerns\, please contact Christine at info@wbon.org. \n————————————– \nLisa Danforth is a Business Strategist\, Leadership Coach\, and Speaker. Her mission is to help people build a business that will sustain the life they want to live\, not consume it. \nLisa is a 30-year\, five-time entrepreneur. She’s a Certified The ONE Thing Facilitator\, Certified Co-Active Coach\, and graduate of Tara Mohr’s Playing Big Facilitators Course. \nHer clients have dubbed Lisa “the hand-holding ass-kicker\,” she matches just the right amount of push with a dose of love.

SUMMARY:Build a Quinzhee with MALT
DESCRIPTION:Hey this is Simon here – Education Manager at MALT. I’ll be totally honest: I’ve never built a Quinzhee before. But it looks very cool\, and I think we can work together to figure it out. In the morning\, we’ll use shovels to build a massive dome of snow. After a break (noon-2 p.m.) to warm up and allow the snow to settle and pack\, we’ll carve the dome from the inside-out. When we’re finished\, we’ll hopefully have a shelter that can fit four-to-six people inside at a time. At the very least\, we’ll have stayed warm and made some great memories. \nBYO snow shovel and a mug for hot cocoa. Feel free to bring other snow sports equipment – Wright Park has some fantastic opportunities to play outside. We’ll have a fire going to keep warm\, and we’ll have hot cocoa. Feel free to bring snacks and refreshments. \nRegister here (not a requirement\, but helpful!). \nCANCELLATION POLICY: MALT operates programs outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. If weather conditions are hazardous (lightning\, sustained winds >30m.p.h.)\, MALT may cancel the program. MALT will reach out to all registered folks to inform them about cancellations.

SUMMARY:Deppman Law Estate Planning Presentation
DESCRIPTION:Everyone has an estate\, consisting of everything you own: your car\, home\, other real estate\, checking and savings accounts\, investments\, life insurance\, furniture\, personal possessions. Estate planning is making a plan in advance\, naming the people or organizations you want to receive the things you own after you die\, and taking steps now to make carrying out your plan as easy as possible later. \nThe presentation begins at 3:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Shoreham Congregational Church. \nWhile some websites can suggest steps in creating an estate\, it is good to have the information from some professionals first hand\, and to learn if your own plans should be reviewed. So come and learn from these professionals. This presentation is free and open to the public — all are welcome and urged to attend.

SUMMARY:Antje Duvekot and The Sea The Sea
DESCRIPTION:Next Stage Arts Project and Twilight Music present an evening of contemporary folk music with Antje Duvekot and The Sea The Sea. \nAntje Duvekot is a German- born\, American-raised singer/ songwriter whose songs have been critically praised for their hard-won wisdom\, dark-eyed realism\, and street-smart romanticism. Her bicultural upbringing and relative newness to English have helped shape her unique way with a song\, giving her a startlingly original poetic palette. They are the keys to the powerful\, even revolutionary\, empathy that informs everything she writes. She has won some of the top songwriting awards including the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition\, the Kerrville Folk Festival Best New Folk Award and the Boston Music Award for Outstanding Folk Act. \n\n\n\nSince the release of her debut studio CD “Big Dream Boulevard\,” which was voted #1 Folk Release of 2006 by the Boston Globe and was named to the Top 10 Releases of the Year by National Public Radio’s Folk Alley\, Antje has been touring extensively\, criss-crossing the US and Europe. She is a compelling live performer and has played at major festivals\, including Newport\, Mountain Stage\, Philadelphia\, Falcon Ridge\, Great Waters\, and Kerrville. Antje’s most recent studio release\, “Toward the Thunder\,” centers around themes of courage\, resilience and striving for something better\, and as with most of her writing\, a sense of hope and perseverance shines through the songs. \n\n\n\nThe Sea The Sea is the upstate New York-based indie folk/pop duo Chuck E. Costa and Mira Costa. They have garnered features across all music platforms\, including Apple Music “Best of the Week” and “A-List Singer/ Songwriter\,” and appeared on live performance broad- casts of Mountain Stage\, Audiotree\, and Paste Music/ Daytrotter. The group’s 2020 release “Stumbling Home\,” dubbed “otherworldly” by Rolling Stone magazine\, marks the duo’s third full-length album.
